Why do most people think Japanese were better fighters in WW2 than Germans?

Most Americans I know don't think this. Because the Germans were infinitely better than the Japanese in every aspect of the war. I guess the Americans that you know are either prejudiced or ignorant of Japan's carelessness. I mean, Japan had it's moments, but Germany was really the most deadly power in the world. You can't compete with that.
