Brother in law is a jerk?

I don't think it'd be helpful to state your feelings toward your brother in law, until you try to work things out a couple of times. Chances are, your sister realizes that he is a jerk, but there must be something about him that she likes. I would suggest that you invite her for a girl's night out, sister's brunch, no boys allowed shopping trip...just so long as it is clear to her husband that it is for sisterly bonding time and that he can have his time with her later on. If he stands in the way of this and insists that he comes (or is present) or there's no deal...then I wouldn't have a problem lettting my sister know that I am concerned that she is being drawn away from her friends and family and that her husband is overbearing.
