Canon lens Canon EF 70-300mm f/4-5.6 IS USM vs CANON EF-S 55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS?

so the hard question the one or the other? i have canon 450D with kit lens 15-55 IS and 50mm prime a really old one...now i need a telephoto lens but i don't know what to get. any suggestions?
